Because Computing @ Intercollege-Larnaca deliver courses that are designed and regulated by the University of Greenwich in the UK, the delivery of our courses is regulated by a Quality Assurance programme that fosters not only an environment of Continuous Improvement throughout the college, but the best possible course content and delivery standards for our students. We also operate as an institution within the wider European Higher Education Area, following guidelines of best practice issued by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher education. What is meant by Standards and Quality? The words 'academic standards' are used to describe the level of achievement that a student has to reach to gain an academic award (e.g. a degree). For similar awards, the threshold level of achievement should be the same across the UK -- and all off-site campuses that deliver UK programmes. 'Academic quality' is a way of describing how well the learning opportunities available to students are managed to help them to achieve their award. It is about making sure that appropriate and effective teaching, support, assessment and learning opportunities are provided for them. As a prospective student, or a relative of a prospective student, we believe it is critical to the undergraduate experience that you ask the following questions of any academic institution that you are considering: - What quality framework do you operate under?
- What internal processes are used to enforce your quality assurance programme?
- Do your lecturers and administration staff work to internationally recognized QA processes?
Please visit the UKs Quality Assurance Agency here. They are an excellent online resource that can further demonstrate the advantages of a well defined quality assurance process to your undergraduate experience.
